A Vacation of a Lifetime - Cruisin' on the Splendor

Last October, my older brother had the fantastic idea of giving himself a cruise for graduating college. This idea grew, and together we planned and committed 140 other groovy adult singles to the idea. We set sail May 6th aboard Carnival Splendor to the Mexican Riviera with ports in Cabo San Lucas and Puerta Vierta. The week I spent on the boat was definitely one of the best weeks of my life. In effort to keep this post short, I will highlight just a few of my favorite memories and people.

Leah (left) and Karlee (right) are my best friends, partners in crime, and wing-women. We made memories to last a life time during the 8 days we spent together.
All you can eat soft-serve ice cream, 24/7. Somehow, it is impossible to get sick of indulging in an occasional (and when I say occasional, I mean a few times each hour...) cone.

I hands down, have the coolest older brother. Not only does he allow me to tag along with him on cruises but he kinda likes it, and I have hot friends so that helps ;) We look alike, act like, and party alike. Thanks for the wonderful week Stephen! Congrats on graduating with high honors!

Karlee, Leah, and I had to decided that one the first formal night we would rock the ugliest dresses we could. We found some nasty dresses at Savers and looked forward to displaying our hideous attire. The night came for us to wear our dresses and suddenly we got the giggles and took it to a whole new level. -> We decided Leah looked like a woman who escaped her casket in the 80's!

We looked like Sister Wives and when we got to dinner, much to our excitement and surprise, some other girls had the same idea!

The Result? Lots of weird looks and, "oh, they must be from Utah." comments.

Getting to know this fella, Taylor! Our first port, Cabo San Lucas, us girls shared Lover's Beach with some crazy fun boys we had just met from our group. Taylor and I ended up chatting while protecting our gear from sketchy people. I had the opportunity to get to know Taylor fairly well and developed a deep friendship with him.

The best thing about this kid is he is always making me laugh. For example, I met his eye contact from across the patio and he started making his pecks dance. Totally random but totally Taylor. Thanks for the fun week Tay!

We had the most random adventures! With crazy fun boys mentioned above, we took a taxi through town and the jungle to go ziplining. Our taxi hit a rock and ended up getting a flat tire (probably cause our driver had a tendency to drink...). Our macho boys changed the tire and we were on our way!

These are the fine people I spent the majority of my time with. You guys are the best!

Bottom (left to right) Troy, Ryan, Cameron (crazy fun boys)

Over a month as gone by since this wonderful week and I miss EVERYTHING about the cruise. I've gone through major withdrawals but am so incredibly grateful for the memories and friends I've gained. I wouldn't change a thing about the entire week.

Looking forward to the next cruising adventure,

Christine Marie
