A volte Cristo calma la tempesta. A volte permette la tempesta imperversa e calma la nostra anima.

"Luisa and her dogs, Stella and Sandy.
She loves them more than her own kids. "
Cara Famiglia Mia! Let us jump right into another week of Sorella Alley's current life. This week was a bit of a slower week and Sorella Burkman and I came up with some creative ways to do missionary work. We have one favorite Italian in particular and her name is Postina. Yes, for those of you with any knowledge of Latin language, the mailwoman is our favorite Italian because she brings us tidings of joy and happiness. Since we basically stalk her daily, we decided to be less creepy and just write her a note. So we said, "Postwoman, thank you for bringing us mail. You make life better. We love you. thank you!" With that taped to the mailbox, we watched out our window waiting for her. Sure enough, never failing, she came on her yellow vestba. She saw our note and was instantly all smiles. Her smile was so big I though it would darn near pop her eyeballs out. It was a good missionary act.

Last Friday we had pizza with the Zufolini's who invited Cristian, Valentina e Serena Bazzocchi. It was a really fun night of laughter and pizza (pitsa for all you uneducated Americans...). We haven't given up hope on them and Cristian asked if he could still read the Book of Mormon. So he is still reading and we are counting on the Spirit to spiritually face punch him and then we will sweep in make the kill, fondly meaning we hope to start teaching this chosen family again soon.

Reason #1387453948572843 why I love my companion, Sorella Eileen Burkman. While we were doing personal study this week, Sorella Burkman begins to make this awful noise. Startled and very concerned, I look over. Her head is in her hands and she is nearly sobbing, "No! Not Mormon! Why did they have to kill Mormon!" Sorella Burkman realized for the first time that dear Prophet Mormon was killed, and did not die naturally, leaving Moroni all alone. She was devastated and may never from this book again, it is just too tragic for the soft souls to bear. hahahahaha I have the best companion.

"Less than one year to go! Pazza!"

Big news, I passed the six month mark which is the official 1/3 mark! To celebrate, I was assigned to speak in church, along with Sorella Burkman and Strong. My topic was missionary work, boom easy peasy...in English. We worked on our talks and then translated them to perfect Italian with the help of Emanuele (God bless him for literally saving us daily). Then on Sunday we delivered them and I do not think my heart has every beat so hard in my life. I am thinking the equivalency of giving birth. But I did okay, and the sacrament meeting went well. Thank you Spirit! But it was a miracle Sunday because 3 families from the Holladay area were visiting Rimini and came to church! I know every one of their sons and it was fun to have a bit of home with me during sacrament!

"Shout out to Holladay, Utah!
These 3 couples all have children from Olympus. "

To conclude, I have to thank Dad, Stephen, Richard, and Jake (and any other worthy priesthood holder who may be reading) for blessing my life with this gift from God. As mentioned last week, the past couple weeks have been incredibly difficult for our companionship. We both reached a breaking point last week and decided we needed a little more help from the Big Man Upstairs. We called Anziono e Sorella Jeffries (the 'senior' couple assigned to our zone). They happened to be in Florence and weren't planning on coming back until the following day. However, a short time after hanging up with them they called back and said they needed to come home for us. That night, Anziono Jeffries gave us both beautiful blessings. I was at more peace than I have had in a long time and said exactly what I needed to hear. I have missed living with a priesthood holder in the same house and it truly is a gift given for the "salvation of His children". In these tender moments, men are transformed into mouthpieces for our Heavenly Father and I felt very much loved and known. Thank you Jeffries!

Cari, that is about it for me this week. Thank you for all your prayers, love and support. Ya'll are just the gel to my gelato. Sorriso Dio ti ama!

Sempre, Sorella Alley

The saga of the Rimini Sister's Shoes, pictures worth thousands of words:

"I must go barefoot for the rest of the transfer now, thank you 10£ shoes. "

"Never Underestimate the abilities of an Alley who has two types of tape and scissors.
Ready to be worn for another transfer :)"
"Reason #18654132756845468 Why Sorella Burkman is the best.
When I had finished fixing my shoes -
Sorella Strong, "Ewwww tacky!"
Sorella Erving, "Gross, burn them."
Sorella Burkman, "Hey, those look great! I am proud of you.""
"After a full day of missionary work, Sorella Burkman looks down to
notice her lamb slippers accompanied her all day. haha"
**Editor's note: One sister in duck-tapped sandals and the other in bunny slippers? What do the locals thing of our sweet missionaries?! Bless their hearts**

"Thanks Ikea, your fan sucks."
Editor's note: Clearly Christine just discovered Duck Tape

"But thanks to the ingeniousness of The Dream Team, the fan is now as sturdy as the house built on the rock. "
